What does 1:64 scale mean?

A diecast's scale is how much smaller it is than the real car. At 1:64, every inch on the model stands for 64 inches on the real car. A car about 4.7 metres long becomes a model about 7.3 centimetres long. Most cars on Scaled Garage are 1:64.
